Ladder Selection Guide: Choose the right ladder for safe operation

April 13, 2026

I. Quick Overview of Ladder Application Scenarios

Combination Ladder: Home repair, renovation, outdoor work; multi-purpose, covering various needs

Extendable Ladder: Home small-scale work, vehicle emergency, work in confined spaces; portable and easy to store

Extended Ladder: Roof/exterior wall high-altitude work, construction, electrical maintenance; high load-bearing capacity and high height

Aluminum Alloy A-Frame Ladder: Home daily use, shop inventory management; self-stable and ready to use upon unfolding

Work Platform/Scaffolding: Long-term renovation, industrial maintenance; includes a work platform; comfortable for prolonged standing

Steel Steps: Low-height, high-frequency work, such as retrieving items from hanging cabinets or restocking in convenience stores; high load-bearing capacity and space-saving.

II. Quickly Select the Right Ladder

1. Select by Working Height

1 meter or less: Choose steel steps

2-3 meters: Home daily use: Choose aluminum alloy A-frame ladder/extendable ladder

3-5 meters: Medium to high height: Choose combination ladder/extended ladder

5 meters or more: Professional high-altitude work: Choose professional extended ladder/scaffolding

2. Choose according to usage scenario:

Home multi-scenario: Prioritize combination ladders, one ladder solves all the needs of the house

Portable storage/vehicle: Choose telescopic ladders, space-saving and easy to use

Professional high-altitude work: Choose extension ladders to meet high height and high load-bearing requirements

Long-term continuous work: Choose work platforms/scaffolding to improve efficiency

3. Choose according to safety standards

Prioritize products with national standard/EN131 and other authoritative certifications, anti-slip pads, and anti-locking structures

Allow a 30% safety margin for load-bearing capacity (including the weight of the person and tools)

For home use, choose aluminum alloy (lightweight and rust-proof); for industrial use, choose steel (high load-bearing capacity); for electrical work, choose insulated fiberglass.

III. Safety precautions

Extension ladders must be used against a wall; never stand upright alone.

Never exceed the load-bearing capacity or stand on the top two steps of the ladder.

Reject low-priced, uncertified products to avoid structural failures and safety accidents.
